ArcIMS 10 Service Pack 3
Summary
Description
ArcIMS 10.0 Service Pack 3 can be installed on top of ArcIMS 10.0, 10.0 Service Pack 1, or 10.0 Service Pack 2. Service Pack 3 is cumulative and contains the fixes from all previous 10.0 Service Packs and patches, therefore if you have a previous patch/service pack installed, simply apply Service Pack 3 over it to update the required files.
- From your Services control panel, stop the ArcIMS Tasker, ArcIMS Monitor, and ArcIMS Application Server (in that order).
- Double-click the ArcIMS10sp3.msp (22 MB) to start the install process. This executable will take some time to examine your current ArcIMS install during the initializing stage. If double clicking the EXE file does not start the Service Pack installation, you can run the Service Pack manually by using the following command:
msiexec.exe /p [location of Update]\ArcIMS10sp3.msp
- When Setup starts, follow the instructions on your screen.
- After the Setup has finished, stop the Web Server and Servlet Engine and then run the ArcIMS Post Installation. The post installation setup can be run from Start > Programs > ArcGIS > ArcIMS > ArcIMS Post Installation.
If you have customized directories or files, please cut and paste them to a back-up location prior to running the Post Install. Remember to replace any customized files after running the post-install with the backed-up/original files.
TOMCAT USERS ONLY: Stop the Tomcat processes, then navigate to <Tomcat Installation Directory>\webapps. If any of the following directories and files exist, please move them to a backup location prior to running the Post Install and Web Configuration. These must be removed from the webapps directory. Remember to replace any customized files after running the post-install with the backed-up/original files.
- There are no updates to any of the webapps.
- In the Post Install, choose the Custom Install option
- Check the box for ArcIMS Configuration
- Check the box for Web Server Servlet Engine Configuration
- Check the box for ArcIMS JRE Configuration for Author, Designer, and Administration Tools.
In the ArcIMS JRE Configuration dialog no changes are necessary, simply keep the defaults and click Next.
- Uncheck all other options.
- Follow the prompts as explained in the ArcIMS Installation Guide and finish the Post Installation.
Note: You will need to follow the uninstallation procedure found in the ArcIMS Install guide to remove deployed ESRI war files from your web-server/servlet engine before re-deployment. If your Web Server is not available as a selection in the Post Installation, please follow the manual instructions found in the ArcIMS Installation Guide to re-configure your web-server/servlet engine and to re-deploy ESRI war files. The war files that have been updated are listed below:
There are no updates to any of the webapps.
- The post install will start the ArcIMS Application Server, ArcIMS Monitor and ArcIMS Tasker services. You may need to restart any additional ArcIMS services that may have been stopped for the install.
Installation Steps for ArcIMS Web ADF for the Java Platform on Windows
ArcIMS Web ADF for the Java Platform 10.0 Service Pack 3 can be installed on top of ArcIMS Web ADF 10.0, 10.0 Service Pack 1, or 10.0 Service Pack 2. Service Pack 3 is cumulative and contains the fixes from all previous 10.0 Service Packs and patches, therefore if you have a previous patch/service pack installed, simply apply Service Pack 3 over it to update the required files.
- Download ArcIMSADFJava10sp3.msp (108 MB) to a location other than the installation directory.
- From your Services control panel, stop the ArcIMS Web Manager Service.
- Double-click the ArcIMSADFJava10sp3.msp to start the install process. This executable will take some time to examine your current ArcIMS Web ADF for the Java Platform install during the initializing stage. If double clicking the MSP file does not start the Service Pack installation, you can run the Service Pack manually by using the following command:
msiexec.exe /p [location of Update]\ArcIMSADFJava10sp3.msp
- When Setup starts, follow the instructions on your screen. The setup will start the ArcIMS Web Manager Service.
Installation Steps for ArcGIS Server Web ADF Runtime on Windows
Note: ArcGIS Server Web ADF Runtime for Windows, must be installed on the Web server machine that deploys the developed application before you can install this update. It can also be installed on machines used to test your developed application.
- Download ArcGISServerWebADFRuntime10sp3.msp (82 MB) to a location other than the installation directory.
- Double-click the ArcGISServerWebADFRuntime10sp3.msp to start the install process. This executable will take some time to examine your current .NET Web ADF Runtime install during the initializing stage. If double clicking the MSP file does not start the Service Pack installation, you can run the Service Pack manually by using the following command:
msiexec.exe /p [location of Update]\ArcGISServerWebADFRuntime10sp3.msp
- When Setup starts, follow the instructions on your screen.
Installation Steps for ArcGIS Server - Web Applications on Windows
ArcGIS Server - Web Applications 10.0 Service Pack 3 can be installed on top of ArcGIS Server - Web Applications 10.0, 10.0 Service Pack 1, or 10.0 Service Pack 2. Service Pack 3 is cumulative and contains the fixes from all previous 10.0 Service Packs and patches, therefore if you have a previous patch/service pack installed, simply apply Service Pack 3 over it to update the required files. ArcGIS Server - Web Applications on Windows installs the Applications Manager and Software Developer Kit (SDK) components.
- Download ArcGISServerWebApplications10sp3.msp (87 MB) to a location other than the installation directory.
- Double-click the ArcGISServerWebApplications10sp3.msp to start the install process. This executable will take some time to examine your current .NET Web ADF Runtime install during the initializing stage. If double clicking the MSP file does not start the Service Pack installation, you can run the Service Pack manually by using the following command:
msiexec.exe /p [location of Update]\ArcGISServerWebApplications10sp3.msp
- When Setup starts, follow the instructions on your screen.
Installation Steps for ArcIMS on UNIX/Linux
ArcIMS 10.0 Service Pack 3 can be installed on top of ArcIMS 10.0, 10.0 Service Pack 1, or 10.0 Service Pack 2. Service Pack 3 is cumulative and contains the fixes from all previous 10.0 Service Packs and patches, therefore if you have a previous patch/service pack installed, simply apply Service Pack 3 over it to update the required files.
- Download the appropriate compressed tar file for your platform to a location other than the installation directory:
SUSE Linux and Red Hat Linux (Intel): ims10-sp3-linux.tar 34 MB Solaris: ims10-sp3-slrs.tar 30 MB - Back up any customized files within your ArcIMS installation for UNIX/Linux. (e.g. the aimsmeta.properties, esriadmin.properties, Esrimap_prop files.) Remember to replace any customized files after running the post-install with the backed-up/original files.
- Extract the tar file ims10-sp3-<platform>.tar by typing:
% tar -xvf ims10-sp3-<platform>.tar
- Start the installation by typing:
% ./applypatch

Note: The applypatch command will start the ArcIMS Application Server, ArcIMS Monitor, and ArcIMS Tasker (in that order).
- To finish the ArcIMS Update install run the <Path to ArcIMS Install>/tools/SetupArcIMS_PostInstall to propogate updated jar files to your JRE/JDK locations.
- The Post Installation should include running the <Path to ArcIMS Install>/tools/SetupArcIMS_WebConfig as the root user in order to redeploy the war files that have been updated.

ArcIMS Web ADF for the Java Platform 10.0 Service Pack 3 can be installed on top of ArcIMS Web ADF 10.0, 10.0 Service Pack 1, or 10.0 Service Pack 2. Service Pack 3 is cumulative and contains the fixes from all previous 10.0 Service Packs and patches, therefore if you have a previous patch/service pack installed, simply apply Service Pack 3 over it to update the required files.
- Download the selected tar file to a location other than the installation directory.
ArcIMS Web ADF for the Java platform gis10-sp3-imsadfjava.tar 39 MB - Back up any customized files within your installation.
- Extract the tar files by typing:
% tar -xvf gis10-sp3-imsadfjava.tar
- Start the installation by typing:
% ./applypatch
- When Setup starts, follow the instructions on your screen.
How to identify which Service Pack is installed

Obtaining a DVD copy of the Service Pack
A DVD of this Service Pack is available for users who experience difficulties downloading the Service Pack from the web site. Simply fill out the Request a Service Pack DVD order form. Sites outside of the United States, please contact your local ESRI software distributor.
