ArcGIS 10 Service Pack 1 Language Pack Update
Summary
Description
All ArcGIS 10 customers who have the Chinese (Simplified), French, German, Japanese or Spanish Language Packs installed should download and install the ArcGIS 10 Service Pack 1 Language Pack Update to ensure the highest quality experience when working with ArcGIS 10.
Issues Addressed with this Service Pack
This language resource service pack provides updates to translated text in the graphical user interface, context sensitive help and the Help system. It provides translations for new text in the ArcGIS 10.0 Service Pack 1 English equivalent, as well as translation improvements. It also provides User Interface updates. For example, when resizing a display, the translated text dialog can now be seen in its entirety.
Installing the Chinese (Simplified) Language Pack
Recommended installation sequence:
- Install ArcGIS 10.
- IMPORTANT: Install ArcGIS 10 Service Pack 1. This Service Pack contains software fixes and English text changes only but is required in order to install the Language Pack Update successfully.
- Install ArcGIS 10 Service Pack 1 Language Pack Update for your locale.
Windows Installation Steps
- Make sure you have write access to your ArcGIS installation location, and that no one is accessing it.
- Select the appropriate files:

- Double-click the MSP file to start the install process.
NOTE: If double clicking on the MSP file does not start the Service Pack 1 installation, you can start the Service Pack 1 installation manually by using the following command:

msiexec.exe /p [location of update]\<Product>10sp1-<Language>.msp

- When Setup starts, follow the instructions on your screen.
- Repeat steps 2 - 6 for each product installed on your machine.
Linux/Solaris Installation Steps
- Make sure you have write access to your ArcGIS installation location, and that no one is accessing it.
- Copy the appropriate files to a location other than the installation location:
ArcGIS Server for the Java Platform (SUSE Linux and Red Hat Linux (Intel)) Server10sp1-Chinese-linux.tar 60 MBArcGIS Server for the Java Platform (Sun Solaris) Server10sp1-Chinese-slrs.tar 60 MB - Extract the specified tar file by typing:
% tar xvf Server10sp1-Chinese-linux.tar (Linux)
% tar -xvf Server10sp1-Chinese-slrs.tar (Sun Solaris)
- Start the installation by typing:

% ./LP_applypatch
This will start the dialog for the menu-driven installation procedure. Default selections are noted in parentheses ( ). To quit the installation procedure, type 'q' at any time.

How to identify which Service Pack is installed
- Windows
To find out what ArcGIS products are currently installed on your machine, download the PatchFinder utility and run it from your local machine.
- Linux/UNIX

Obtaining a DVD copy of the Service Pack
A DVD of this Service Pack is available for users who experience difficulties downloading the Service Pack from the web site. Simply fill out the Request a Service Pack DVD order form.
