ArcGIS 10.2 for (Desktop, Engine, Server) Shapefile crash on open Patch
Summary
Description
Esri® announces the ArcGIS 10.2 for (Desktop, Engine, Server) Shapefile crash on open Patch. This patch addresses a shapefile issue which results in a crash caused by a buffer overrun that is most likely to occur when there are large numbers of fields in the dBase file. The problem has been present since 8.0, but was exacerbated by recent changes in support of Shift JIS. It deals specifically with the issues listed below under Issues Addressed with this Patch.

- NIM095013 – Opening a shapefile crashes the application.
- NIM097252 - Asking for the extent of a 10.x fileGDB or SDE feature class after copy and paste returns none even if features exist.
