ArcGIS 10.0 SP2 (Desktop, Engine) Internet Tiled Layers Patch
Summary
Description
Esri® announces the ArcGIS 10.0 SP2 (Desktop, Engine) Internet Tiled Layers Patch. This patch addresses an issue in which ArcGIS Desktop applications (ArcMap, ArcCatalog, ArcReader) or ArcGIS Engine crash accessing a tiled internet service (such as Bing Maps or ArcGIS Online Basemaps) when the service response is delayed. It deals specifically with the issues listed below under Issues Addressed with this Patch.
Issues Addressed with this Patch
- NIM070255 - ArcGIS Desktop applications (ArcMap, ArcCatalog, ArcReader) and ArcGIS Engine applications can crash when map service request response time is delayed.
- Description: When map service layers such as Bing Maps or ArcGIS Online Basemaps are drawn in ArcGIS Desktop applications (ArcMap, ArcCatalog, ArcReader) or ArcGIS Engine, multiple requests are made simultaneously and then reassembled to draw the content requested for the given extent. In situations where these requests take longer to respond, the requesting application can crash. This patch ensures that the situation which caused the crash is avoided, and ensures that map tiles returning after longer timeouts will still be properly handled.
