Frequently asked question

Why isn't the Image Service Editor toolbar visible?

Last Published: April 25, 2020

Answer

The most common reason that the Image Service Editor toolbar is not available, even though ArcGIS Image Server has been installed, is because Microsoft .NET Framework 2.0 is not installed on the machine. When .NET is not installed, that means that ArcGIS Desktop .NET Support did not get installed when ArcGIS Desktop was installed, which the Image Service Editor toolbar requires. Therefore, when installing ArcGIS Image Server, the Service Editor and the ArcGIS Desktop Client did not get installed.

To install all the required components, follow the steps below.

1. Uninstall ArcGIS Image Server.

2. Install Microsoft .NET Framework 2.0.

3. Modify the installation of ArcGIS Desktop to include the .Net Support.

The Service Editor and ArcGIS 9.2 Client will be missing, if .NET 2.0 and the ArcGIS .NET Support are not installed first.
