PROBLEM

Attachments are missing from an attachment match table created through the Generate Attachment Match Table tool

Last Published: December 16, 2025

Description

In ArcGIS Pro, there is the option to add attachments to feature classes by running the Generate Attachment Match Table tool to create an attachment match table, and then running the Add Attachments tool to add attachments from the attachment match table to a feature class (that has attachments enabled).

Once the Add Attachments tool is run, the attachments referenced in the attachment match table created through the Generate Attachment Match Table tool can be viewed in the feature’s pop-ups or through the Attachments tab of the Attributes pane, however sometimes the attachments are missing.

Cause

This issue occurs when running the Generate Attachment Match Table tool with the tool’s Store Relative Path parameter (checkbox) selected and then running the Add Attachments tool with no folder set for the tool’s Working Folder parameter.

This is because there is no full file path defined for the attachments in the attachment match table created through the Generate Attachment Match Table tool, and with no folder set for the Add Attachments tool’s Working Folder parameter (which identifies the folder where the attachments are located), the Add Attachments tool has no designated path to find the attachments referenced in the attachment match table.

Solution or Workaround

To prevent this issue, have the Generate Attachment Match Table tool’s Store Relative Path parameter unchecked, or if that parameter is checked, ensure that the Add Attachments tool’s Working Folder parameter is set to a folder.
