Frequently asked question

What wildcard characters can be used in an ArcIMS query?

Last Published: April 25, 2020

Answer

Wildcard characters, such as the percentage mark (%), asterisk (*), underscore (_), or question mark (?), can be used in a spatial query when using the LIKE operator.

If using a shapefile in the Image server use % as the wildcard for zero or more characters and use ? as the wildcard for a single character.

If using ArcSDE features in the Image server use % as the wildcard for zero or more characters and use _ as the wildcard for a single character.

If using shapefile or ArcSDE features in ArcMap server use, % as the wildcard for zero or more characters and use _ as the wildcard for a single character.

If using personal geodatabase in ArcMap server, use * as the wildcard for a group of characters and use ? as the wildcard for single character.

Use of ESCAPE does not work with a wildcard query.
