Frequently asked question

What should I do if I don’t know my ArcGIS Enterprise portal URL when provisioning a license in My Esri?

Last Published: August 6, 2025

For ArcGIS Enterprise 11.4 and beyond, it is required to provide your ArcGIS Enterprise portal URL during the license provisioning process in My Esri. The ArcGIS Enterprise portal URL is required to securely tie your licenses to your ArcGIS Enterprise environment and allow for the authorization of ArcGIS Pro, Drone2Map, and AllSource. In some cases, a user may not yet know their ArcGIS Enterprise portal URL if they have not installed their ArcGIS Web Adaptor for their Portal for ArcGIS component. In this case, users can go through the steps of provisioning their Portal for ArcGIS license in My Esri and provide what they believe will be their Enterprise portal URL. At this point, they should save their configuration.

After configuring their ArcGIS Web Adaptor for their Portal for ArcGIS component, if the Enterprise portal URL is the same as what they provided during the license provisioning process there are no additional steps required. If the Enterprise portal URL is different, the administrator needs to cancel the license file and create a new one with the correct URL in order to authorize ArcGIS Pro, ArcGIS Drone2Map and ArcGIS AllSource. Because the configuration was saved originally, they can load the configuration to populate the user types and any add-ons and extensions and then update the Enterprise portal URL.
