Frequently asked question

What is the purpose of the options.cfg file in ArcGIS License Manager 2021.0 and newer installations?

Last Published: March 10, 2022

Answer

Beginning with ArcGIS License Manager 2021.0, a new file called 'options.cfg' is installed as part of the ArcGIS License Manager installation. The default location for this file is:

  • Windows: C:\ProgramData\ArcGIS\LicenseManager\options.cfg
  • Linux: ~/arcgis/licensemanager/bin/options.cfg

The purpose of this file is to determine configuration settings of the License Manager previously contained within the Registry. This file is required for the License Manager to operate correctly, and deletion of this file could cause instability or failure of License Manager operations.
