Answer
This article covers common technical questions regarding ArcGIS Pro Licensing.
Question 1: What do I do if the Manage Licensing button is missing from ArcGIS Online (not Portal)?
Answer: The organization's administrator must contact Customer Service so that the organization’s ArcGIS Pro licenses can be provisioned to use for ArcGIS Online. Once licenses are provisioned by Customer Service, the administrator can then assign, revoke, and change ArcGIS Pro licenses within their organization using their ArcGIS Online account.
Note:
Only organization administrators can manage licenses, for others the Manage Licensing button is not visible.
For more information, see the help topic, Manage ArcGIS Pro licenses.
Question 2: What do I do if I or have been disconnected from the licensing portal and/or encounter the following error message?
"ArcGIS Pro is not connected to a licensing portal and will close in 60 minutes. You may have signed out or your Administrator terminated the session or revoked your license. Please save your work."
Answer: There are a couple of reasons this probably happened; someone revoked your license or your ArcGIS Online password changed. You have 60 minutes to save your work before Pro closes. If you updated your password, simply log back in. If your admin disconnected you, contact them to request another license.
Question 3: What do I do if I have lost my internet connection and my license is stored online?
Answer: You can continue to use Pro for up to 24 hours after losing internet connectivity, as long as you do not shut down the ArcGIS Pro application. If the application is shut down, you will be required to log in again, which requires an internet connection. At the end of the 24 hours, the user will have the opportunity to save their work.
Note:
If you have a spotty connection, make sure you don’t close the session.
Question 4: What do I do if I need to take my license offline?
Answer: Make sure that you do not have any other active sessions and from the ArcGIS Pro licensing tab, set your workstation alias to help identify which computer your different sessions or the machine the offline license is on. Simply check the offline license box to take the license offline.
Note:
Although you can have three simultaneous sessions when you are online, once you take your license offline, only that machine is licensed for an ArcGIS Pro session.
Question 5: What do I do if I am unable to check in my ArcGIS Pro license that I had previously checked out for offline use?
Answer: To check a license back online, you must first be signed into your licensing portal.
A. Click on Projects tab, select 'Portals', and verify the license portal is set to active. Right-click the ArcGIS option and select 'Sign In'.
B. Once signed in, click the Project tab, select 'Licensing', and uncheck the box 'Authorize ArcGIS Pro to work offline'.
Note:
The user who was signed in and took their license offline must be the same user who is signing the license back in.
Question 6: What do I do if my machine was destroyed, wiped clean, or lost with a license taken offline?
Answer: Have your administrator Contact Technical Support with the subscription number and username that was using the offline license. Subscription numbers can only be seen by organization administrators on the My Organization section of ArcGIS Online.
