Description

In ArcGIS Pro, when a polyline feature is selected and the Edit > Modify Features > Divide tool   is used, the following warning message may be returned and the operation fails.

The current selection includes features or rows that are invalid for this operation. Click the selection tool to change the selection.

Cause

This can occur when the selected feature is a multipart feature. This can be verified by selecting the Edit Vertices tool and checking the edit sketch of the selected feature. If there are several parts, the selected feature is a multipart feature, as shown in the image below.

Solution or Workaround

Exploding the multipart feature to single parts with the Explode tool resolves the issue.
