Upgrade the ArcGIS 10.1 License Manager to 10.2

Summary

It is not required to uninstall version 10.1 (including SP1) of the License Manager to upgrade an ArcGIS 10.1 machine. The setup program applies the ArcGIS 10.2 License Manager version and retains the authorization and configuration information in the upgrade. The upgrade is installed to a License10.2 folder in the same location as the primary folder of the previous version.

Procedure

Upgrade the Existing ArcGIS 10.1 License Manager

1. Open the License Server.
   • For Windows, navigate to Start > Programs > ArcGIS > License Manager > License Server Administrator.
   • For UNIX/Linux, the License Server Administrator can be run from the installation location using the following command:

/arcgis/license10.1/LSAdmin

2. Stop the License Service under the Start/Stop License service and exit the License Server Administrator.
3. Install the ArcGIS 10.2 License Manager. The installer automatically uninstalls the ArcGIS 10.1 License Manager and installs ArcGIS 10.2 License Manager.
4. Open the License Server.
   • For Windows, navigate to Start > Programs > ArcGIS > License Manager > License Server Administrator.
   • For UNIX/Linux, the License Server Administrator can be run from the installation location by using the following command:

/arcgis/license10.2/LSAdmin

2. Start the License Service under the Start/Stop License service and exit the License Server Administrator.

ArcGIS 10.2 License Manager is now ready for use.

Warning:   
If the ArcGIS 10.2 License Manager will be installed on a different machine than where the ArcGIS 10.1 License Manager is currently installed, and the existing ArcGIS 10.1 License Manager authorization will be used for ArcGIS 10.2, the ArcGIS 10.1 License Manager must first be de-authorized before authorizing the ArcGIS 10.2 License Manager installation. Make sure that borrowed licenses are returned before de-authorizing the 10.1 License Manager if the 10.2 License Server is going to be installed on a different machine.
