Summary
In an ArcGIS Enterprise organization, it is sometimes neccessary to update the organizational URL along with the following associated URLs, as follows:
ArcGIS Portal Directory | https://organization.example.com/portal |
Portal Administrator Directory | https://organization.example.com/portal/portaladmin |
Organization content | such as maps, layers, apps, and tools |
ArcGIS Services URL | https://organization.example.com/server/rest/services/foldername/servicename |
ArcGIS Server Manager | https://organization.example.com/server/manager |
ArcGIS Server Administrator Directory | https://organization.example.com/server/admin |
Services Directory | https://organization.example.com/server/rest/services |
Updating these URLs may be necessary in situations such as:
- Rebranding: The organization has been acquired or rebranded, requiring all URLs to reflect a new domain. For example, changing from:
https://organization.example.com
to
https://neworganization.example.com
- Environment Transitions: Moving between development, staging, and production environments and it is necessary to adjust content accordingly
- Web Adaptor Reconfiguration: Updating the Web Adaptor name.
- Domain Migration: Moving from one domain to another for strategic, technical, or branding reasons, for example, switching from a .com to a .org or from a legacy domain to a modernized one.
- Infrastructure Changes: Rehosting services on new servers, cloud platforms, or geographic regions may involve domain or subdomain changes. Migrating from on-premises to a cloud-hosted environment.
