Error: Unable to Write Feature Geometries without an FME Coordinate System

Error Message

When writing to the 'GML - Geography Markup Language' format using the Data Interoperability Quick Export or Spatial ETL tool, the following error message occurs:

"<GML Writer> - Unable to write feature geometries without an FME Coordinate System. Either tag the FME features with a coordinate system, or use the GML writer SRS_NAME along with the SRS_AXIS_ORDER keywords to specify the GML srsName and axis order for the GML <pos> and <posList> elements".

Cause

The 'GML - Geography Markup Language' format requires that the dataset has a coordinate system.

Solution or Workaround

The coordinate system needs to be defined on the input (source) dataset or the coordinate system needs to be defined for the output GML file.

If the source data's coordinate system is undefined, use the Define Projection geoprocessing tool to define the coordinate system of the source data.

If the source data is undefined, set the coordinate system of the output (destination) GML file by selecting the correct coordinate system from the Spatial References dialog box.

If using the Quick Export tool, the Spatial References dialog box can be accessed from the Coordinate System's browse button on the Specify Output Data Destination dialog box as shown below:

If using a Spatial ETL tool, the coordinate system is a parameter of the dataset that can be set in Workbench.
