Last Published: April 25, 2020

Error Message

Uploading projects returns the following error:

“Unable to upload content to the server: The remote server returned an error: (501) Not Implemented.”

Cause

Permissions may not be set.

Solution or Workaround

Set permissions to 'arcgisoutput' in IIS.

  1. Navigate to the 'arcgisoutput' location in Internet Information Services (IIS).
In a default IIS configuration, the arcgisoutput folder is typically located at: Start > All Programs > Control Panel > Administrative Tools > Internet Information Services (IIS) Manager > local computer > Websites > Default Website > arcgisoutput.
Navigate to the appropriate folder if a custom IIS configuration has been created.
  2. After locating the IIS 'arcgisoutput' folder location, right-click arcgisoutput and select Properties.
    [O-Image] IIS arcgisoutput properties
  3. The 'arcgisoutput' Properties dialog box opens. Select the Virtual Directory tab, and check Read and Write in the Local Path settings.
    [O-Image] arcgisoutput properties dialog box
  4. Click Apply.
  5. Click OK.
  6. If this does not solve the issue, some additional settings may need to be set. Check the "Required additional steps" section in the Business Analyst Server Install Guide for information on the additional settings.
