Unable to rename attribute name in the map pop-ups for SharePoint layers
Description
In the ArcGIS for SharePoint app, users can rename the fields or attributes in a map layer. Previously, Esri supported this functionality for both ArcGIS layers as well as SharePoint layers, but in the June 2024 release, Esri no longer allows attribute renaming in pop-ups for SharePoint layers.
Cause
When a user renames the attribute in the pop-up for a SharePoint layer, the new name wasn’t being persisted since it is overwritten with the old name the moment the map is refreshed. In other words, when a user renames the attribute in the pop-up for a SharePoint layer, the new name was not propagated to the actual SharePoint list or document library and hence the new name was not persisted. The moment the map is refreshed, the new name is automatically overwritten with the old name from the SharePoint list or doc library. To enhance the user experience, we will pause this functionality for the moment and make this enhancement available in a future release.
Solution or Workaround
Since the attribute name cannot be renamed in the map pop-up configuration for SharePoint layers, for now, users can rename the attribute directly on the SharePoint list or document library.
