First Published: August 27, 2026
Last Published: September 14, 2026

Description

When attempting to create a data source in ArcGIS GeoEvent Server Spatiotemporal Big Data Store, the operation fails and returns the following error:

Failed to create the template for the data source org.opensearch.plugins.spi.NamedXContentProvider: Provider org.opensearch.plugins.rankeval.RankEvalNamedXContentProvider not found. Error: {1}

error message

The error prevents the data source from being created in GeoEvent Server.

Cause

This error occurs when ArcGIS GeoEvent Server does not recognize or load the libraries deployed to support the Spatiotemporal Big Data Store. As a result, the required OpenSearch provider, RankEvalNamedXContentProvider, is unavailable when GeoEvent Server attempts to create the data source.

Solution or Workaround

Restart the ArcGIS GeoEvent Server service to allow GeoEvent Server to reload and recognize the required libraries.

  1. Stop the ArcGIS GeoEvent Server service on the Windows machine.
  2. Start the ArcGIS GeoEvent Server service again.
  3. Attempt to create the data source in the Spatiotemporal Big Data Store.

Alternatively, restart the GeoEvent Server machine.

After restarting GeoEvent Server, the required libraries are loaded correctly, and the data source can be created successfully.
