"Unable to create a backup for the [Data Store type] store, as no backup location is registered for this data store."

Error Message

Unable to backup a Data Store or run a full ArcGIS Enterprise backup ("webgisdr export").

"Unable to create a backup of ArcGIS Enterprise: Unable to create a backup for the [Data Store type] store, as no backup location is registered for this data store.  First, configure location for the object store and then create a backup."

This error message may occur for any Data Store type (relational, tile cache, object, spatiotemporal, etc.).

Cause

As the error message suggests, the backup location must be registered.

Solution or Workaround

Register the backup location. See the ArcGIS Data Store utility reference: configurebackuplocation

Example: Register the object store's backup location to C:\webgisdr\dataStore:

cd C:\Program Files\ArcGIS\DataStore\tools>configurebackuplocation.bat --operation register --store object --location "type=fs;location=C:\webgisdr\dataStore

Note:
Make sure to grant the Data Store service account full control permissions to the new backup location before running the backup again.
