Two styles with the same name cause problems within the Style Manager

Last Published: April 25, 2020

When browsing the contents of a style within the Style Manager, the folders don't contain the expected symbols.

Loading two styles that have the same name can cause unexpected results. Regardless of which file is opened, only the contents of the second file will be visible.

Solution or Workaround

  • Exit and restart ArcMap. Select only one of the files using either the Style References dialog or the Style Manager dialog.
  • Alternatively, you may uncheck both styles from the Style References dialog and rename one of the files at the system level. Both styles may now be referenced and their contents accessed.
