Error Message

When upgrading a geodatabase in DB2 from ArcGIS 9.x to ArcGIS 10.x, the Upgrade Geodatabase geoprocessing tool may fail with an error similar to the following:

"Error(Check Datasets): The geodatabase system table could not be created. [GDB_Items : Error (-51)]"

The sde_setup.log file may contain the following error:

"ERROR Creating Geodatabase tables
, Error = -511
,EXT_Error = 0
,EXT_ERROR1 = Invalid DBTUNE data found.
,EXT_ERROR2 ="

Cause

The DEFAULTS keyword of the DBTUNE table contains an invalid parameter.

Solution or Workaround

Check the parameters of the DEFAULTS keyword in the DBTUNE table to ensure they are valid. Delete invalid parameters using the sdedbtune command.

This is an example of the syntax for using the sdedbtune command to remove the invalid parameter, XML_FULLTEXT_IDX_IDXDIRECTORY:

sdedbtune -o delete_data [-i <service>] -k DEFAULTS -P XML_FULLTEXT_IDX_IDXDIRECTORY [-s <server_name> ] [-D <database>] -u sde -p <SDE_password>
