The Batch Project Script has a limit of 2000 characters in the string that specifies the path to the data and the names of the input feature classes

The Batch Project Script, located in ArcToolBox > Data Management Tools > Projections and Transformations > Feature fails with the following error:

Cause

The Batch Project Script is limited to a total string of 2000 characters for the path to the input data and the names of all feature classes being projected.

Solution or Workaround

• Place the data to be projected in a location with a short path.
• Rename feature classes being projected with shorter names.
• Reduce the number of feature classes being projected in a single batch process.
