Description

Publishing a composite locator from ArcGIS Pro to ArcGIS Enterprise returns an error message.

Error:
00181: Locator must be registered with the server

Error 00181: Locator must be registered with the server

This error message may return even if the location of the composite locator is registered with ArcGIS Server.

Cause

To publish, composite locators require the ability to copy data to the server. Even if the location of the composite locator is registered with ArcGIS Server, it cannot be published unless the 'Allow data to be copied to the site when publishing services' setting is enabled in ArcGIS Server Manager, as shown in the screenshot below.

Solution or Workaround

  1. Sign in to ArcGIS Server Manager.
  2. Navigate to Site > Server Configuration > Data Stores.
  3. On the Data Stores page, click the Settings button.
  4. In the Data Store Settings dialog box, check the Allow data to be copied to the site when publishing services checkbox.
  5. Click Save.
