PROBLEM

Synchronization fails for a checkout replica after certain geoprocessing tools are applied

Last Published: March 5, 2021

Description

When geoprocessing tools such as Delete Rows, Delete Features and Append are used on data in a checkout replica, the features fail to synchronize with the primary geodatabase.

Note:
This article only applies to ArcGIS for Desktop Standard and ArcGIS for Desktop Advanced versions 10.1 and prior.

Cause

This is a known limitation when certain geoprocessing tools are applied on replicated data outside of an edit session in ArcMap, since the tools do not track edits made to data in a checkout replica.

Solution or Workaround

Use one of the following solutions:

  • Use a different type of replica, such as a one-way or two-way replica.
  • Use these geoprocessing tools inside an edit session in ArcMap.
  • Upgrade to version ArcGIS 10.1 SP1 or greater, where the issue has been fixed.
