Introduction Panel and Custom Header edits are not saved in ArcGIS Instant Apps

Description

There is a known issue in ArcGIS Instant Apps that prevents saving edits when configuring certain text components of the application. This is scheduled to be fixed in the June 2023 update of ArcGIS Online.

Cause

Edits made with the rich text editor components are not saved when the reduced motion setting is disabled on the user's computer. The edits will be shown in the configuration panel but do not show in the app preview or launched app.

Most common areas this has been reported:

  • Introduction panel
  • Custom header

Solution or Workaround

To fix this issue, enable the Reduce motion (Mac) OR the Show animations (Windows) setting, if it is not turned on, enable it. These controls are shown in the next two images.

Mac setting

  1. Go to System Settings > Accessibility > Display.
  2. Check Reduce motion to enable it, as shown in the next image.

Windows setting

  1. In Windows Settings, search for Show Animations in Windows.
  2. In the Display settings, turn the Show Animations in Windows slider to On., as shown in the next image.
