Summary
Beginning with ArcGIS Pro 3.1 and ArcGIS Enterprise 11.1, ArcGIS Data Interoperability products can be installed and used on the same machine in a supported configuration, if version alignment requirements are met.
Description
ArcGIS Data Interoperability is available across multiple ArcGIS components:
- ArcGIS Pro (desktop extension)
- ArcGIS Enterprise (server extension)
In earlier releases, installing multiple Data Interoperability products on the same machine could cause conflicts affecting:
- Quick Import / Quick Export dialogs
- Dataset browsersÂ
- Printing services
- Spatial ETL tool publishing
These limitations have been addressed in Pro 3.1 / Enterprise 11.1, and supported side-by-side operation is now available.
Supported Configuration
Side-by-side installation is supported under the following conditions:
Version alignment
- Data Interoperability must match the release version of its host platform (Pro ↔ Enterprise).
- Both environments must use the same FME engine version.
Example (supported pairing):
| ArcGIS Pro | ArcGIS Enterprise | FME Version |
| 3.1 | 11.1 | 2022.2.1.0 |
This version pairing is documented in official Esri system requirements, which specifies that Pro 3.1 and Enterprise 11.1 both include FME 2022.2.1.0
Valid deployment scenario
- ArcGIS Pro 3.1 + Data Interop (Pro)
- ArcGIS Enterprise 11.1 + Data Interop (Server)
- Installed on the same machine
This configuration is supported for the following:
- Authoring Spatial ETL tools in Pro
- Sharing and running web tools in Enterprise
- Publishing and running geoprocessing Services in standalone ArcGIS Server
Expected Behavior
In a supported configuration:
- Quick Import and Quick Export tools function normally in ArcGIS Pro.
- Dataset input/output pickers operate correctly.
- Printing services are executed as expected.
- Spatial ETL tools can be authored and successfully published to Enterprise or Server.
Important Considerations
- Version matching is critical.
Compatibility depends on matching versions across:
- ArcGIS Pro
- ArcGIS Enterprise
- Data Interoperability extension
- FME engine
Mismatch between these components may result in failures or unexpected behavior.
- Installation order is no longer required.
- Previous releases required specific install order or repair installs.
- As of Pro 3.1 / Enterprise 11.1, install sequence no longer impacts functionality.
- Legacy products are not supported.
- ArcMap/Data Interoperability (10.x) should not be installed alongside Pro/Enterprise deployments.
- These combinations may still introduce conflicts and are unsupported.
For reference, see the ArcGIS Data Interoperability server extension system requirements (version matrix)
This page includes the authoritative table mapping:
- ArcGIS Pro version
- ArcGIS Server / Enterprise version
- Included FME engine version
Resolution
No action is required when using supported versions (Pro 3.1 / Enterprise 11.1 or later).
If issues occur:
- Verify version alignment across Pro, Enterprise, and Data Interoperability.
- Confirm extension installation and licensing.
- Validate FME engine version consistency.
