Summary

Note:
Troubleshooting graphic cards is beyond Esri's Scope of Support, and it is advisable to follow the workaround described in the Esri Knowledge Base article: Problem: Graphics card conflict may cause ArcGIS Pro to crash.

This workaround can be applied to desktop applications such as ArcGIS Pro, or ArcGIS Drone2Map when they crash due to a graphics card conflict.

It is important to note that this workaround only works if the computer has more than one graphics card. If it does not resolve the issue, further investigation by the IT department is required to troubleshoot the affected graphics card. In this case, the computer should have more than one graphics card. This can be verified by opening Windows Device Manager > Display adapters.

Procedure

  1. Open the Windows Settings > System > Display, and click Graphics.

acessing the Windows graphics settins

  1. On the right, scroll down to Custom settings for applications, and click Add desktop app.

adding the desktop app

  1. Browse to the executable file of the program. They are normally found in:
C:\Program Files\ArcGIS\Pro\bin\ArcGISPro.exe
C:\Program Files\ArcGIS\Drone2Map\bin\Drone2Map.exe
  1. In the GPU preference drop-down, select the graphics card that is not causing the conflict, and click Reset.

re-setting the grphics card

  1. Once the graphics card that was causing the issue is repaired, simply remove the desktop app configuration. By default, it is always in Let Windows decide.
