HOW TO

Resize SiteScan orthomosaics in ArcGIS Pro

Last Published: August 14, 2020

Summary

When working with external software such as AutoCad's Civil3D, it may be necessary to reduce the file size of larger orthomosaics created by SiteScan to load the imagery.

Procedure

  1. Open ArcGIS Pro, and either create a new project or open an existing project
  2. Go to the Analysis tab, and select the Tools button to open the Geoprocessing pane, if it is not already open.
  3. On the search bar at the top of the pane, search for Copy Raster, and in the list, select the Copy Raster tool from the Data Management Tools toolbox.

  1. In the Copy Raster dialog, navigate to the local TIFF file using the folder icon next to Input Raster.
  2. Choose a location as an output using the folder icon next to the Output Raster Dataset.
  3. Confirm the output Format. Pixel Type can be left blank as it automatically takes the value from the Input Raster.

  1. To resize the output raster, go to the Environments tab, and under Raster Analysis, instead of Maximum of Inputs, select the text and type in a manual Cell Size value larger than the current cell size.
  2. If the cell size of the raster is not known, navigate to the Catalog pane by going to the View tab, and selecting Catalog Pane. Add a folder connection by right-clicking folders and navigating to where the imagery is stored. Right-clicking and viewing the properties of the image displays the Cell Size X and Y under Raster Information.
  3. Once the output cell size is set in Environments, click Copy Raster to run the tool and create the new output raster in the indicated output location.
