Problem: Reclassify Tool Stops Responding in ArcMap

Description

The Reclassify tool in the Spatial Analyst toolbar enables reclassification of the raster values. In some instances, the tool causes ArcMap to stop responding.

Cause

The issue occurs when background geoprocessing is enabled.

Solution or Workaround

Run the Reclassify tool in the foreground by disabling background processing. To do this in ArcMap, follow the steps provided below:

Go to the Geoprocessing menu.
Click Geoprocessing Options.
In the Geoprocessing Options dialog box, navigate to Background Processing, and uncheck the Enable check box.
