- CityEngine add-on for Creator user type (ArcGIS Online)
- CityEngine add-on for Professional user type (ArcGIS Online)
November 2025
- ArcGIS Urban Suite for ArcGIS Enterprise Annual Subscription
- ArcGIS CityEngine for ArcGIS Enterprise Annual Subscription
- CityEngine add-on license for Creator user type (ArcGIS Enterprise)
- CityEngine add-on license for Professional user type (ArcGIS Enterprise)
Recommendation
- Customers with active maintenance for ArcGIS CityEngine Single Use or Concurrent Use Perpetual licenses will continue to receive maintenance quotes through November 30, 2026. See migration options for perpetual license holders below.
- ArcGIS Online customers with a CityEngine add-on license for the Professional user type will now have access to CityEngine as part of their existing license rather than added on. No action is required.
For other license holders, access to licenses that were previously sold separately will remain functional after the 2025 user types update through the duration of the customer’s subscription. At renewal, quotes will no longer include an additional cost for licenses that were previously sold separately.
- Customers with a CityEngine annual subscription license should be transferred to the Professional or Professional Plus user type.
- Customers with an ArcGIS Urban Suite license should be transferred to the Professional Plus user type.
- ArcGIS Online customers with a CityEngine add-on license for the Creator user type should be transferred from the Creator user type to the Professional user type.
With the ArcGIS Online June 2025 update, ArcGIS Enterprise customers will find additional licenses available to assign to users, at the customer’s discretion, within My Esri. Esri will deliver licenses as follows:
- ArcGIS Urban for ArcGIS Enterprise 11.3 to 11.5 to all Professional Plus user types.
- ArcGIS CityEngine for ArcGIS Enterprise 11.4 and 11.5 to all Professional and Professional Plus user types.
Migration Options for Customers with Perpetual licenses
Customers with active maintenance for ArcGIS CityEngine Single Use or Concurrent Use Perpetual licenses will continue to receive maintenance quotes through November 30, 2026. To ensure a smooth transition, we encourage customers to select a migration option before December 1, 2026 (see options below). Migration options allow customers to move to user types as either:
- Annual Subscriptions (available in ArcGIS Online or ArcGIS Enterprise)
- Perpetual Licenses (available in ArcGIS Enterprise)
The following migration options are available based on the customer’s current ArcGIS CityEngine license type:
- Convert ArcGIS CityEngine Single-Use Perpetual licenses to one (1) Professional or Professional Plus user type (as an Annual Subscription on ArcGIS Online or ArcGIS Enterprise)
- Convert ArcGIS CityEngine Single-Use Perpetual licenses to one (1) Professional user type (as a Perpetual License on ArcGIS Enterprise)
- Convert ArcGIS CityEngine Concurrent-Use licenses up to three (3) Professional or Professional Plus user types (as Annual Subscriptions on ArcGIS Online or ArcGIS Enterprise).
- Convert ArcGIS CityEngine Concurrent-Use licenses up to three (3) Professional user types (as Perpetual Licenses on ArcGIS Enterprise).
If no action is taken by the customer on or before November 30, 2026 to migrate to user types using the options mentioned above, they will receive the following default quote for each ArcGIS CityEngine Single Use and Concurrent Use license (Note: customers can request to be quoted the user type(s) defined above if the default quote does not meet their needs):
- For customers that do not have an ArcGIS Online subscription, one will be created for them and the Professional user type will be quoted for the new ArcGIS Online subscription.
- For customers that have an ArcGIS Online subscription, the Professional user type will be quoted for their existing subscription.
- For customers that have two or more ArcGIS Online subscriptions, the customer will need to reach out to Esri and specify which subscription should be quoted the Professional user type.
