XLSX files cannot be used with geoprocessing when background processing is enabled

Description

Executing a tool with an Excel spreadsheet (.xlsx) as input to the tool while using background processing fails.Some of the errors encountered could be:"Error 000622: Failed to execute (tool). Parameters are not valid.""Error 000732: Input Rows: Dataset (path to data) does not exist or is not supported."

Cause

Background processing has dependencies on an updated version of Microsoft Office or the Access database engine pack. These are required to use .xslx files with background processing.

Solution or Workaround

• For Microsoft Office 2007, download Office Suite Service Pack 3
• For Microsoft Office 2010, download Service Pack 1
• For Microsoft Office Access Runtime and Data Connectivity 2007, download Service Pack 3
• For Microsoft Access Database Engine 2010, download Service Pack 1
