In incident # 225126, the user received a PNTINS error when executing BUILD or CLEAN on a coverage. MacAfee virus scanning software was scanning continuously on the computer. In incident # 246868, the user received a PFTEND error message trying to save edits in Edit Tools. The machine was running virus scanning software continuously and was set to scan newly created files.

If the virus scanning software on the computer is set to scan newly created files and an ArcEdit session is started, the scratch copy of the coverage appears to get corrupted.

Solution or Workaround

Have the user temporarily disable the virus scanning software to see if the error is avoided.
