Unable to view layers from a federated server in Portal for ArcGIS Map Viewer

Description

Non-administrators are unable to view layers from a federated server in Portal for ArcGIS Map Viewer.

Cause

The layers do not have an item ID and therefore cannot be accessed by non-administrators of the organization. This can occur if the privatePortalURL property is left blank during federation of the server.

Solution or Workaround

Update the privatePortalURL property by following the steps below:

1. Sign in to the ArcGIS Portal Directory with an administrator role.
2. Click System > Properties > Update Properties.
3. In the Update System Properties dialog box, insert the following code into the JSON with the URL of the load balancer:

4. Click Update Properties.
