Unable to start Tomcat in Console window

When trying to install Tomcat as per the AIMS chapter 10 install instructions, Tomcat may not start in a Console window. The window may appear briefly and then disappear, with no error message displayed.


There is a conflict between ArcIMS and RealNetworks' RealMedia Server module. This module is installed with Real Producer, which is used by many ESRI Instructors.

Solution or Workaround

Uninstall the RealMedia Server software (via Add/Remove Programs). This should not affect the functioning of Real Producer.
