Unable to share locators in ArcGIS Pro

Description

In some instances, attempts to share locators using the Share Locator or Share As Locator option fail in ArcGIS Pro.

The image below shows the Share Locator option not available on the top ribbon in ArcGIS Pro.

The image below shows the Share As Locator option not available in the Catalog pane in ArcGIS Pro.

Cause

• An ArcGIS Online public account is used to access ArcGIS Pro.
• The portal connection is not added in ArcGIS Pro.
• The user account has insufficient privileges.

Solution or Workaround

Use one of the methods below to resolve the issue.

Log in using the ArcGIS Enterprise account

Log in to ArcGIS Pro using the ArcGIS Enterprise account. Refer to ArcGIS Pro: Sign in to your organization for instructions and more information.

Add the portal connection in ArcGIS Pro

In ArcGIS Pro, add the portal connection to share the locator to the ArcGIS Enterprise portal. Refer to ArcGIS Pro: Manage portal connections from ArcGIS Pro for instructions and more information.

Change the member’s role to Publisher or Administrator

Change the member’s role to the default Publisher or Administrator to share the locator. Refer to Portal for ArcGIS: Manage members for more information.

Note:
The ability to share locators from ArcGIS Pro to ArcGIS Online using the Share Locator or Share As Locator option is yet to be available. ArcGIS Online uses only the World Geocoding Service as a locator. Alternatively, create a locator package using the Package Locator tool in ArcGIS Pro, and upload it to ArcGIS Online.
