PROBLEM

Unable to select a GIS Professional user type when configuring new member defaults in ArcGIS Online

Last Published: October 8, 2020

Description

When configuring the user type for new member defaults in ArcGIS Online, the GIS Professional Basic, GIS Professional Standard, and GIS Professional Advanced user types are disabled. Clicking a GIS Professional user type returns the following warning message:

Warning:
Deselect ArcGIS Pro from default add-on license(s) to enable this user type.
This is a screenshot image of the warning message to deselect ArcGIS Pro as the Add-on license.

Cause

ArcGIS Pro is selected in the Add-on licenses setting. This causes an incompatibility because the GIS Professional user types already include the corresponding ArcGIS Pro license levels. For example, the GIS Professional Standard user type includes the ArcGIS Pro Standard license.

Solution or Workaround

To resolve the issue, deselect ArcGIS Pro from the Add-on licenses setting. Refer to ArcGIS Online: Configure new member defaults for more information. In the Default add-on licenses page, under the ArcGIS Pro section, click Deselect, then click Save.

Note:
When a GIS Professional user type is selected, the ArcGIS Pro licenses are disabled in the Add-on licenses setting, but it is still possible to select ArcGIS Pro extensions, such as 3D Analyst and Spatial Analyst.
