Unable to see layers when performing a search for layers from Portal for ArcGIS

Description

In the Portal for ArcGIS map viewer, when attempting to search for layers, the desired layer does not appear within the search results.

Cause

The 'Within map area' check box is checked by default to allow users to view the results based on the current map extent.

Solution or Workaround

To resolve this issue, uncheck the Within map area check box to see all layers not restricted to the current map extent. For more information, refer to the following Portal for ArcGIS help page: Add layers.
