Warning: The instructions below include making changes to essential parts of the operating system. Esri recommends performing a back up of the operating system and files, including the registry, before proceeding. Consult a qualified computer systems professional if necessary. Be aware that renaming the Esri folders is a factory reset of ArcGIS, and therefore all third party tools, custom scripts, or custom toolbars currently installed must be reinstalled accordingly. Additionally, all existing folder connections must be reconnected. Esri cannot guarantee results from incorrect modifications while following these instructions. Proceed with caution.
Note: If ArcGIS Pro is installed on the machine, ensure that an ArcGIS Pro license is not checked out from ArcGIS Online. If unsure that the ArcGIS Pro license is checked out on the machine, contact Esri Technical Support at 888-377-4575.
