Unable to publish web services from ArcGIS Pro to Portal for ArcGIS with the ArcGIS Web Adaptor 11.1 Reliability Update 2 Patch installed

Description

When publishing web services from ArcGIS Pro to Portal for ArcGIS with the ArcGIS Web Adaptor (IIS) 11.1 Reliability Update 2 Patch installed, the process fails.

Cause

The domain name and IP address of the local machine have been edited or removed from the hosts file on the virtual machine.

The following steps require the local machine's IP address and domain name. Contact the organization's IT department for assistance, if necessary.
  1. On the virtual machine, create a new folder.
  2. In File Explorer, navigate to the hosts file, which by default is:
C:\Windows\System32\drivers\etc
  1. Right-click the hosts file and open the hosts file in a text editor, for example, Notepad.
  2. In the text editor, add a new line at the end of the file and type in the local machine's IP address and domain name without the hashtag.
