Unable to open an existing project from the Recent Projects list in ArcGIS Pro

Description

In ArcGIS Pro, an existing project displayed in the Recent Project list in the ArcGIS Pro start page cannot be opened. The Project Not Found pop-up message is displayed when the mouse is hovered over the project.

When the Project Not Found project is selected, the following error message is returned:

Sorry, we couldn't find your project. Do you want to remove the project shortcut from your list of recent projects?

Cause

The initial location of the project file is moved from the project's initial folder path or a cloud storage service to a local computer using the local computer's operating system.

Solution or Workaround

As a workaround, use one of the methods provided below to open the project.

Use the Open another project option in ArcGIS Pro by selecting the project from the start page

  1. Open ArcGIS Pro, and at the bottom-left of the start page, click Open another project.

  1. In the Open Project dialog box, navigate to the project folder location.
  2. Click the project, and click OK.

Use the Open another project option in ArcGIS Pro by selecting the project from the Settings page

  1. Open ArcGIS Pro, and at the bottom-left of the start page, click Settings. Alternatively, in the ArcGIS Pro application, click the Project tab on the ribbon.

  1. Click Open, and click the Computer or Portal option, depending on the location of the project.
  2. At the bottom of the Open page, click Open another project.

  2. Click the project, and click OK.

Open the project from the file system

  1. Navigate to the location of the project, and to open, double-click the project (.aprx) or project package (.ppkx) file.
