Unable to log in to ArcGIS Collector using an ArcGIS Online organizational account

Description

By default, an ArcGIS Online organizational account is required to log in to ArcGIS Collector on a device. In some instances, attempts to log in to ArcGIS Collector fail, despite using an ArcGIS Online organizational account.

Cause

The following are possible causes for the issue:

• An ArcGIS Online public account is used to access ArcGIS Collector.
• The ArcGIS Online organization is not activated.
• The ArcGIS Online organization is activated, but the user account is not a member of the organization.

Solution or Workaround

Depending on the cause, use one of the following workarounds to resolve the problem.

Use an ArcGIS organizational account with a license for ArcGIS Collector to log in to the app

ArcGIS Collector does not support an ArcGIS Online public account for login and access. Refer to ArcGIS Collector: ArcGIS account requirements for more information on supported user types in Collector.

Ensure the ArcGIS Online organization is activated

1. Log in to ArcGIS Online using the related organizational account.
2. Ensure the Organization tab is visible on the Home page, as shown in the image below.

Note:
If the Organization tab is not visible, follow the workflow below to activate the ArcGIS Online organization.

3. Complete the account activation process, and set up the organization. Refer to ArcGIS Online: Activate subscription for the steps to complete this.
4. In ArcGIS Collector, log in using the ArcGIS Online organizational account created in Step 3.

Add the ArcGIS Online user account to the ArcGIS Online organization

Contact the ArcGIS Online organizational administrator to add a user account as a member of the organization to log in to ArcGIS Collector. Refer to ArcGIS Online: Join with an ArcGIS account created for you for more information.
