PROBLEM
Attempts to import Excel files fail and return generic error messages when used in geoprocessing tools in ArcGIS Pro.
Depending on the cause, use one of the options below to resolve the issue.
Install the Microsoft Access Database Engine driver
Install the compatible Microsoft Access Database Engine driver on the machine. Refer to ArcGIS Pro: Install the Microsoft Access Database Engine drivers for steps and more information.
Use Excel files that are not password-protected
In ArcGIS Pro, unlock the original Excel files if necessary, or use new Excel files that are not password-protected.
Import new Excel files
In ArcGIS Pro, import new Excel files instead of using the corrupted files. Ensure the new Excel files are formatted for use in ArcGIS Pro. Refer to ArcGIS Pro: Format a table in Microsoft Excel for use in ArcGIS Pro for more information.
Save the Excel files on the local machine
Save the Excel files on the local machine before importing the files through the Catalog pane of ArcGIS Pro.
Note: ArcGIS Pro does not currently support the use of cloud storage services, such as OneDrive and Google Drive. Refer to Problem: ArcGIS Pro and Cloud Storage Services for more information.
Upgrade ArcGIS Pro
Upgrade to the latest version of ArcGIS Pro. Refer to ArcGIS Pro: Update ArcGIS Pro for further instructions.
Clear the cache data
In ArcGIS Pro, clear the cache data. To do this, in ArcGIS Pro, navigate to Project > Options > Display > Local cache, and click Clear Cache Now. Click OK > OK to restart ArcGIS Pro and apply the changes.
