Unable to edit Geometric Network in ArcMap

Description

After adding a Geometric Network to ArcMap, the network feature classes are not listed in the Target Layers dropdown list. Also, network features can be selected but not edited.

Cause

The coordinate system of the Data Frame in ArcMap is different from the coordinate system of the Geometric Network. Geometric Networks that are projected on-the-fly cannot be edited in ArcMap.
