Unable to edit feature classes from geometric networks in ArcGIS Pro

Description

In some instances, attempts to edit feature classes which are part of geometric networks fail, and return the following error message in ArcGIS Pro:

Error:   
Geometric Networks are not editable.

Cause

Geometric networks are a read-only dataset in ArcGIS Pro. Refer to ArcGIS Pro: Geometric Network and ArcGIS Pro: Geodatabase data for more information.
