PROBLEM

Unable to disable the Add To New Projects option for an item in ArcGIS Pro

Last Published: September 19, 2023

Description

In ArcGIS Pro, frequently used items such as a geodatabase or a folder can be added automatically to new projects by enabling the Add To New Projects option. These items can also be prevented from being added to every new project by disabling the Add To New Projects option. In some instances, the Add To New Projects option is unavailable for the item and cannot be disabled. In this example, the option is unavailable for the ProjectFile folder that has enabled the Add to New Projects option.

The Add To New Projects option is unavailable in the list after right-clicking an item that has enabled the Add To New Projects option in the Catalog pane.

Cause

The item is a favorite item. When the Add To New Projects option is enabled for an item, the item is simultaneously marked as favorite.

Solution or Workaround

Follow the workaround below to disable the Add To New Projects option for an item.

  1. In ArcGIS Pro, in the Catalog pane, click Favorites.
Access the Favorites tab by clicking Favorites in the Catalog pane. The Favorites tab is the third tab.
  1. On the Favorites tab, right-click the desired item, and click to uncheck Add To New Projects. The option to automatically add the item to new projects is disabled.
Disable the Add To New Projects option for an item by navigating to the item on the Favorites tab, right-click the item, and click to uncheck Add To New Projects. There is a checkmark indicating the Add To New Projects option is enabled for the item.
