Unable to create an image collection in Portal for ArcGIS

Description

Attempts to create an image collection in Portal for ArcGIS fail even though the images are successfully uploaded. Creating the image collection fails in the imagery layer item creation progress, as shown in the image below.

The following error message is returned in the ArcGIS Server logs:

Error:   
Error executing tool. CreateImageCollection Job ID: <Job ID>: Create Image Collection requires either file share or enterprise geodatabase raster store. Failed to create image collection:

Cause

The raster store is not registered in the ArcGIS Enterprise portal.

Solution or Workaround

1. Log in to ArcGIS Server Manager.
2. Click Site > Data Stores.
3. Click the Register drop-down list, and select Raster Store.
4. In the Register Raster Store window, register the raster store. Refer to ArcGIS Server: Register a raster store for more information.
