Unable to configure an ArcGIS Notebook Server site with ArcGIS Web Adaptor

Description

In ArcGIS Enterprise, ArcGIS Notebooks provides an integrated platform to perform analysis, automate workflows, and visualize data and results in a geographical context. ArcGIS Notebooks runs on ArcGIS Server licensed with the ArcGIS Notebook Server role. In some instances, attempts to configure an ArcGIS Notebook Server site with ArcGIS Web Adaptor (IIS) fail, and return the following error message:

Error:   
Failed to get machines from server site.

Cause

The incorrect primary site administrator credentials are used on the ArcGIS Web Adaptor (IIS) configuration page. Refer to ArcGIS Enterprise: Configuring the Web Adaptor from the configuration web page for information regarding the credentials used during the ArcGIS Web Adaptor (IIS) configuration.

Solution or Workaround

On the ArcGIS Web Adaptor (IIS) configuration page, use the correct primary site administrator credentials to configure the ArcGIS Notebook Server site with ArcGIS Web Adaptor. If a credential reset is required for the primary site administrator account, refer to ArcGIS Notebook Server: Reset the primary site administrator account password for instructions.
