Unable to add web maps to an ArcGIS StoryMaps collection

Description

In ArcGIS StoryMaps, a collection groups related content in a portfolio-style layout and adding web maps to it enhances the overall presentation. However, web map items are not available to be added to the collection using the 'ArcGIS content' option.

Cause

ArcGIS StoryMaps only supports adding certain item types, such as ArcGIS apps, media, and files, to the collection via the option. Refer to ArcGIS StoryMaps: Create a collection for more information.

Solution or Workaround

Add the web map as a story to the collection

1. Sign in to ArcGIS StoryMaps.
2. Create and publish a story. Refer to Steps 1 through 4 and Step 7 in ArcGIS StoryMaps: Create a story for instructions. In Step 4, ensure to add the web map.
3. After publishing the story, click Go to StoryMaps content.

4. On the ArcGIS StoryMaps content page, open the collection.
5. In the collection builder, click Add to collection and select ArcGIS content.

6. From Add ArcGIS content, select the created story and click Add.

The story containing the web map is added to the collection, as shown below.

Note:
Alternatively, embed the web map link through Embed from the Add to collection options. Ensure the web map is shared publicly before embedding the link.
