Unable to add layers from Portal for ArcGIS to ArcGIS for Power BI

Description

Attempts to add layers from Portal for ArcGIS to ArcGIS for Power BI fail and in some cases, the following error message is returned.

Cause

• The browser cache on the machine is not cleared.
• The 'Power Bl Desktop Infrastructure update' option is checked.

Solution or Workaround

Clear the browser cache on the machine

Clear the browser cache on the machine. Refer to ArcGIS for Microsoft 365: Clear the browser's local storage for instructions.

Uncheck the Power Bl Desktop Infrastructure update option

In Power BI Desktop, uncheck the Power Bl Desktop Infrastructure update option. Refer to the Solution or Workaround section of Problem: Geocoding addresses using the Location well in ArcGIS for Power BI does not display points in the visualization for instructions.

The following workflow can only be performed by the organization's Microsoft 365 administrator.

Unassign and reassign the Power BI license

Unassign and reassign the Power BI license to the members. Refer to Microsoft: Purchase and assign Power BI Pro user licenses for more information.
