Unable to add Mobile Workers to a group in ArcGIS Online

Description

Attempts to add users with a Mobile Worker user type to a group in ArcGIS Online fail, and return the following message in a Notification pop-up window:

The added users do not receive the invite notification to the group.

Cause

• The added users are external users from another organization.
• The group setting for ‘What items in the group can its member update?’ is set to ‘All items (group membership is limited to the organization)’. This allows access and update capabilities to group members. Thus, group membership is limited to users with the privileges to create, update and delete content. However, the Mobile Worker user type is limited to only editing and viewing privileges.

Note:
The "What items in the group can its member update?" setting may not be available if the Shared Update group setting is enabled.

Solution or Workaround

Select one of the options below to resolve depending on the cause.

Only the user's organization administrators can perform this workflow.

The group setting limits membership to users with the privileges to create, update and delete content
