Unable to access image service in Portal for ArcGIS Map Viewer

Description

In some instances, attempts to access an image service in Portal for ArcGIS Map Viewer fail.

Cause

• The ArcGIS Image Server license authorization is not complete.
• The ArcGIS Image Server license has expired.
• The image service is not shared.
• The URL of the image service in Portal for ArcGIS is different from the URL in the REST endpoint in ArcGIS Server.

Solution or Workaround

Use one of the methods below to resolve the issue.

Complete the ArcGIS Image Server license authorization

Ensure the license authorization for ArcGIS Image Server is completed to allow the image service to be published to Portal for ArcGIS. Refer to ArcGIS Image Server: Set up ArcGIS Image Server and ArcGIS Enterprise: Authorizing ArcGIS Server for more information.

Share the image service

Ensure the image service is shared with everyone or to the organization in both ArcGIS Server and Portal for ArcGIS. Refer to Portal for ArcGIS: Manage groups and Portal for ArcGIS: User types, roles, and privileges for more information.

Edit the URL of the image service in Portal for ArcGIS

1. Log in to the ArcGIS Portal Directory and click Community.
2. Under Community Root, click Users and type the username. Click Search Users.
3. On the User page, navigate to Related Resources and click User Content.
4. Under User Content, click the image service and select Update Item.
5. On the Update Item page, edit the URL to ensure the same URL is used in both ArcGIS Server and Portal for ArcGIS. Click Update Item to save the edit.

Create a new enterprise geodatabase

Create a new enterprise geodatabase and republish the image service. Refer to ArcGIS Pro: Create Enterprise Geodatabase (Data Management) for instructions.
